Matt & Amelia’s day couldn’t have been more perfect. I’ve been told that Calgary has had clear skies almost all summer, but we woke up to a smoky sky on M & A’s wedding day and it created the most perfect, hazy, warm, lighting over the day (and gave the photographs a Los Angeles sort of feel). In every setting it was clear there was intention behind all of the little details; they created a custom playlist to share with their guests, they wrote their own vows, and created a custom menu for the reception meal. But even more evident was the love that they have for each other, and for the family and friends they invited to celebrate along side them.
I can keep trying to describe the day, but Amelia says it so much better than me— “When Matt and I sat down to begin planning or wedding, one important thing stood out to both of us. We really wanted the day to reflect who we were as a couple, not only just our style and vibe, but our cultures as well. Our wedding day was not only about us as individuals, but two different families with different backgrounds coming together. It was meaningful for us to share that with our guests. We had the opportunity to incorporate a tea ceremony and lion dance at the Garret and The Pioneer with our traditional wedding ceremony and reception, as well as to create a custom menu with FoodWorks Craft Catering that incorporated both Asian and Canadian flavours.
We didn’t know what a 2022 wedding would bring us, given the past two years, but we were so fortunate to have had our closest friends and family join us. We had the opportunity to work with incredible vendors during an extremely busy season who understood our vision and helped us make our day really special and unique.”
